Location
Chobe Chilwero is located on the border of
the Chobe
National Park, just 5 minutes by road
to Kasane and 1½ hours from Victoria
Falls. This ideal location provides superb
access to the Okavango Delta, Victoria Falls
and the Caprivi Strip. Chobe, forming part
of Botswana's northern most border, is a contrast
of desert aridity and flood plains. A symbol
of Africa's diversity and inconsistencies.
Dominated by the Mababe Depression the Chobe
Region is best known for its vast national
parks, splendid forest reserves and imposing
elephant population. Chobe Chilwero offers

Attractions
Chobe
National Park covers a diversity of landscapes
ranging from riverine forests to floodplains
and periodic marshlands. The area is home
to the largest concentration of elephants
in Africa, as well as an abundance of hippo,
buffalo, antelope and lion. Botswana's land
mass is slightly larger than that of France.
The country spans the tropic of Capricorn.
Classified as semi-arid, evaporation exceeds
rainfall monthly. Rainy season starts in late
December and lasts through February. The average
rainfall in Chobe is 600mm. Botswana's local
population is estimated at 1.4 million. 70%
of the land is covered by Kalahari Sands.
Chobe
National Park stretches 11,700km's. The
country's estimated elephant population is
+- 50 000. The Chobe River flows into the
Zambezi River, both are known for their excellent
fishing with more than 90 species of fish
in the waters. Commonly sought after are the
Tiger Fish and other fresh water fish. The
Chobe River area is one of the few areas in
Botswana where the Puka Antelope is found.
There are over 400
bird species found in the Chobe
National Park, among them the African
Skinner, kingfishers, numerous storks and
bee-eaters.
Facilities
Chobe Chilwero offers nine double and six
twin luxury cottages, all of which are individually
designed to blend in perfectly with the topography
and natural vegetation of the surrounding
area. The cottage floor plates measure 61
square metres in area. Each luxury cottage
has its own en-suite bathroom with a large
sunken handcrafted bath, indoor and outdoor
showers, private garden, “sala”
or private balcony, mosquito nets, ceiling
fans and air-conditioning. The main public
area includes an elegant lounge and dining
room, which are linked to spectacular outdoor
viewing decks. The well-stocked wine cellar
is temperature controlled and houses a large
variety of the finest South African and European
wines. This superb lodge also boasts a swimming
pool, library, curio and an e-communications
centre that allows guests to keep in touch
with e-mail and internet information.
