Location
Machaba Camp is located on the edge of the
Moremi
Game Reserve, one of the most beautiful
reserves in Southern Africa, and offers spectacular
game viewing. Abundant Elephant abound, often
passing the camp looking for Acacia pods on
their way to the waters of the Kwai River.
The Kwai is the local water supply for big
game in the area, and forms the boundary between
Machaba and the Moremi Reserve.

Attractions
This is the big experience - Buffalo, Elephant,
Lion, Zebra, Wildebeest, Giraffe and many
different species of antelope abound. You
may see the elusive Leopard and a profusion
of smaller animals. At dusk, the Sandgrouse
fly down to the banks of the river and the
Hippos leave the water in search of the night's
pastures. A night drive at Machaba reveals
another world .... the secret is to identify
the eyes among the trees reflecting powerful
hand-held spotlights. Bush Babies, Hyena,
Jackals and Genets will show themselves, as
will the nocturnal birds.
Facilities
Machaba is small and private. Never compromising
on comfort or style. The camp features 8 lare
twin-bedded safari style comfortable, insect-proof
tents, en suite bathrooms, hot and cold running
water and a full staff to provide expertise
and service.
Additional Information
Evenings are a comfortable time for weary
safari travellers. After an ice-cold cocktail,
a hot shower, a superb bush cuisine dinner
- accompanied by fine wines and a good yarn
around the campfire - comfortable beds are
then a good place to retire and listen to
the sounds of the wild. A morning or afternoon
game drive along the Khwai will enable you
to witness some of the behavioural patterns
of many of the animals, the caution with which
they approach the water, the natural hierarchy
and the instinctive protection of the young.
